Hubert Willie Vest, 77, went peacefully to meet his Lord and Savior due to complications of Pneumonia and Parkinson’s on September 14, 2021, in West Plains, MO, surrounded by family. He was the son of Lawrence and Marie Bettis Vest of Alton, MO. Hubert is survived by his four sisters Geraldine “Gerri†Ford and husband Bill of West Plains, MO, Allie Caldwell and husband Darrell of Koshkonong, MO, Gale Stanley of Dallas, TX, Kay Barton and husband Jesse of Alton, MO, a brother Mike Vest and wife Alli of West Plains and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife Betty Kinbro Vest of Bowling Green, KY, who passed away in 1992. Also preceding him in death was his mother, father, stepfather, three brothers and two sisters. Hubert served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Bausell during the Vietnam era. He retired from General Motors after 30 years, in St louis, then transferring to Bowling Green, KY when production of the Chevrolet Corvette was relocated there. He was a Christian and a teacher of Biblical scriptures and was passionate about sharing his faith with others. Hubert loved his cattle and horses. He loved to read and tell stories. He never met a stranger. Hubert will be missed by all who loved and knew him. Services will 10:00 am Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO, with visitation Friday 6:00-8:00 pm. Burial will be in the Vest Cemetery. Officiating will be Roy Bettis, singers Brad and Debbie Bettis, pallbearers Jerry Ford, Perry Ford, Scott Sheeler, Shannon Caldwell, Scott Hollis and Clayton Sisco. |
