STRONGER THEN WE THINK

Every year this time I can remember my great-grandma, Bernice Sims, always telling me she hopes she makes it to my graduation one day, but always make sure to give me a hundred dollars in case she didn’t. “Sorry to the other grandkids if you didn’t know that”. For those that don’t know my great-grandma Sims she is 95. She is still healthy and just lost her eyesight in the last few years. She has lived on her own until the last six months when she had to go into the nursing home. She has experienced the Great Depression, wars, and the flood in Southeast Missouri in the 1930s. She has always been independent, full of spunkiness, and very outspoken. She is the root of our family. Her strength has helped motivate me to put my heart into something I’ve dreamed to do. Well, guess what grandma, not only did you make it, the class of 2020 made it too! Grandma, you and I and the Class of 2020 are all stronger then we think.
