Doyle Bufford Johnson (83) was called home to the Lord on October 16th, 2020, at his home in Couch, MO. Doyle Johnson, born on December 23rd, 1936 in Alton, MO, was the first son of Noel B. and Lucy Johnson. Doyle attended Many Springs School and graduated from Alton High School in 1956. Shortly after graduation, Doyle began working for General Motors in St. Louis where he remained for a few years before returning to Oregon County. On January 20th, 1960, Doyle married the love of his life, Alice Leu Johnson. Doyle and Alice raised two wonderful daughters and were blessed with three granddaughters and a great son-in-law in their 60 years together. Doyle Johnson was a hardworking man who owned and operated a fertilizer truck for many years and raised cattle on his farm in Couch, MO. Doyle was a member of the Norman Methodist Church in Alton, MO. Doyle’s favorite things in life were his family, farm, cows, tractors, and his dog Tippy. Doyle was thankful for the wonderful care he received from OMC Hospice and Chaplain Greg Yount. Doyle is preceded in death by his parents Noel B. and Lucy Greer Johnson; wife's parents Albert and Lucy Grooms Leu; two brother-in-laws George Leu and Samuel Leu; and sister-in-law Barbara Johnson. He is survived by wife Alice Leu Johnson of Couch, MO; daughters Cassie (Greg) Hackworth, and LaReeca Howell; granddaughters Ashley (Paul) Bradshaw, Allie (Tray) Whitsell, and Willow Hackworth; brothers Dale Johnson, Harlin (Wanda) Johnson, Garlin (Mary Lou) Johnson, James (Ruth) Johnson, Phillip (Ruby) Johnson, and sister Mary (Harriell) Booker; sister-in-laws Margret Leu and Secretha Leu. Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, October 19, 2020, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with Bro. Greg Yount officiating, and burial following in the Norman Cemetery near Couch, MO. Visitation will be 12pm-2pm Monday, October 19, 2020, at the Clary Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
