John Jeffrey "Jeff" Taylor was born January 19th, 1965 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Grover and Joyce (Garrison) Taylor and was brought home to Myrtle, Missouri. He passed away June 5th, 2020 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri with his wife and son by his side. Jeff was survived by his beloved wife, Judith Lynne (Arvin) Taylor, his sons Chris and Andrew, his daughters Sarah and Lauren Palmer with Phillip Palmer, and proclaimed daughter Megan Miller. His grandchildren include Myles and Geneva Palmer, as well as Emit, Asher, Elias, Cayden and Brayden Miller. He was also survived by his two sisters Delores Larsen and Delila Sahl with Gregory Sahl. His nieces and nephews include Rebecca Harrison, Lori Gallagher, Michelle Arvin, Vanessa Arvin, Bethany Kadivar, Katherine Athanasiou, Makailah Arvin, Joseph Asta, John Asta, Adam Larsen, and Jonathan Arvin, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Jeff lived his life in Myrtle, but spent a brief period attending Tomlinson College in Tennessee where he returned home with the love of his life, Judy. Jeff proudly tended one of the county’s oldest herds while also doing a variety of other jobs such as managing Sheltered Workshops, driving a truck, operating a small laying hen business, driving a bus for Couch School and variety of other jobs. He served at Centerpoint Church of God of Prophecy as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Wherever Jeff went he never met a stranger, loving to hear their stories. Jeff was loving to everybody and enjoyed serving others. People connected to his genuine interest in their lives, his cheerful personality, and his constant encouragement. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and by the vast number of people whose lives he warmed. While we all mourn the gap of this great man in our lives, he would warmly chuckle say, “Why are you worrying for me? I’m resting in Jesus’ armsâ€. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, 2020 5-7:00 pm at the Church of God of Prophecy, Myrtle, MO with graveside services 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Myrtle Cemetery with Bro. Roger Smith Officiating. Arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO. This Jesus who came “to bind up the brokenhearted…to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion, to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair†-Isaiah 61:1-3; cf. Luke 4:18-19 |
