Norma Jean Christopher, 80 of Alton, Missouri was born March 1, 1939 in Alton Missouri, passed away August 29, 2019 at Ozark Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri. Norma Jean graduated form Alton High School in 1956. In 1957, she was united in marriage to her husband of fifty-one years, Loyd Christopher. Norma Jean retired after many years of working at Monsanto and MEMC in O’Fallon, Missouri. She was a devout Christian and was saved at a very young age. After moving back to Alton, she became a member of the Victory Freewill Baptist Church in Alton. Norma Jean’s retirement years were spent looking after Loyd, canning vegetables from the garden, helping family and friends with events, and making flower arrangements. Norma Jean was a devoted wife to her husband Loyd; proud mother of Taylor Christopher and wife Sherry of O’Fallon, Missouri, Johnny Christopher and wife Michele of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Renea Church and husband Bill of Alton, Missouri. She was the proud and loving Granny to Casey, Kirsten, Megan, Marisa, Timothy, Elizabeth, and Christopher. She is survived by four brothers; W.T. Barton and wife Gerry, Howard Barton and wife Alice, Gary Barton and wife Dorothy, and Garland Barton and wife Sheila; one sister Donna Vest and husband Irven; two sisters-in-law Estelea Butler and husband Gary, and Barbara Christopher; one brother-in-law Glendon Spargo and countless other relatives and friends. Norma Jean was proceeded in death by her husband Loyd who passed away on July 26, 2009; her parents, Willie and Ara Barton; her in-laws Estes and Eddie Mae Christopher; one sister, Louise Winkler and husband Virgil; one brother-in-law Lowell Christopher; four sisters-in-law, Wilma Christopher, Genevieve Williams and husband Robert, Linda Spargo, and Carolyn Barton. The family will receive friends during a visitation to be held on Monday, September 2, 2019, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Clary Funeral Home in Alton, Missouri. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at Victory Free Will Baptist Church in Alton, Missouri. |
