Elmer Lee Powell, age 88 of Mammoth Spring, AR, was born December 24, 1929, near Mammoth Spring, AR., and passed February 10, 2018, at Salem, Arkansas. Elmer was the son of Luther and Ruby (Hatfield) Powell, and was united in marriage on July 26, 1947 to the love of his life Gladys Powell. Survivors include: one sister Edith Robinson of Gainesville, FL, 2 sister-in-law’s; Marie Young and husband, Floyd of Bigelow, AR, and Minnie Risner of Belle Plaine, IA, 2 good friends; Danny and Sandy Johnson of Mammoth Spring, AR; his best friend Zoey, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ruby (Hatfield) Powell, his wife, Gladys Powell, his in-laws, Fred and Cyntythia Phillips, Frandall Risner (bother-in-law), H.C. Risner (bother-in-law), Joe T. Robinson (bother-in-law), Ethel Risner (sister-in-law), Janice Davis (niece), Howard Phillip (brother-in-law). Elmer served two years in the U.S. Marine Corp, receiving a Purple Heart, in the Korean War. He liked Chevy trucks and John Deere Tractors. Pallbearers: Thomas Johnson, Doug Johnson, Don Johnson, Devon Smoot, Richard VanGinhoven, Eugene Washam. Honorary Pallbearers: Arliss Powell, Floyd Young, Fred Davis, Glen Lane, Paul Don Davis, John Beavens, Danny Cheshire, Danny Johnson Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Clary’s Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, MO. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 2pm at Clary’s Chapel in Thayer, MO, with Bro. Erman Croney officiating, and burial following in the Riverside Cemetery. Arrangement are under the direction of Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO.
