Lucy Faye Armstead, age 85 of Thayer, MO, was born November 29, 1929, in Camp, AR, and passed away September 14, 2015, at the Shady Oaks Healthcare in Thayer, MO. Survivors include: 2 nieces, Charliss Weiss and husband Klaus, and Nanette England; 2 nephews, James England and wife Helen, and Richard England and wife Talula; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by Isaiah and Kista Kristina (Radabaugh) Armstead; and numerous brothers and sisters. Lucy has made her home at Shady Oaks since 1987. For the past 28 years, residents and staff have been part of her family. Lucy used to love to take walks in the garden area and pick flowers along the way. She was a dedicated listener to K-Kountry95 and had enjoyed calling in requests. One of her favorite activities was playing bingo, she also volunteered to call out the numbers. Lucy had a great love for animals. She enjoyed feeding her squirrels and the neighborhood cats. Out on the patio Lucy was unable to attend school. She taught herself to read and write. She practiced writing and sorting words to collect in empy Kleenex boxes. She truly loved reading books from the facility library. Lucy had a great love and compassion for children, as no child passed her way without her offering a hug and a kiss. She never married or had children. Lucy will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Ms. Armstead’s wishes were to be cremated with her ashes to be buried at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
