Bettie Lou Moore, daughter of the late Thomas Moore and Mattie Coke-Moore, was born August 6, 1935 in Ripley, Mississippi and passed away December 13, 2014 at the John J. Pershing V.A. Hospital, Poplar Bluff, MO at the age of 79 years. Though no known relatives, Bette leaves a host of friends, including the staff and others at the Alton Senior Center. Bette served her country by joining the U. S. Army in 1956. She attended college for several years, receiving several degrees, including ones in electronics and law enforcement. Bette worked as a prison guard and was a member of the Special Forces unit of a Mississippi police department. Services will be 1:00 pm Friday December 19, 2014 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO with Pastor Denzil Thomas officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at 11:00 am Friday December 26, 2014 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery Bloomfield, MO.
