Cowan Vance Marshall, Born December, 4, 1924 in Thayer, Mo. to William Cowan Marshall and Ada Millisa Rolen. Cowan departed this life on September 16, 2014 in Harrison, AR. Cowan served in the US Navy in WWII, and the served in the US Army during Korean war. He retired from military service as Sargent Major while serving at the Red River Arsenal in Hooks, TX. Sargent Major Marshall received numerous decorations and awards while serving in the military. The National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Legion of Merit, World War II Victory Medal, Army Defense Service Medal, Asian Pacific Campaign Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, and Sharp Shooter Medal, among numerous other awards and recognition of service. Cowan was a Christian, a member of the church of Christ at Capps Rd in Harrison, AR. He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes Tyree Marshall, his daughter Virginia Way of Dallas, TX. He has one surviving step son, Jack Carrow, of Harrison, AR, and numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great - great - grand children. Funeral Services will be 11am Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with burial following in the Thayer Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO. |
