SFC. Samuel Jason Combs, 35, died Friday, April 18th 2014 in his Alton home. He was born June 9th, 1978 in Forrest City Arkansas to parents Robert Louis Combs and Donna Gail Martin. The family soon relocated to Couch Missouri, where Jason grew up and graduated in 1997. Jason was especially close to his younger brother, Nathan, who he enjoyed spending time with on the river. Jason enlisted into the Army in 2001, and attended American Military University. Shortly after completing basic training, he married his next door neighbor, Sharolett Davis in Milani, Hawaii. The couple welcomed three boys; Clayton Alexander, William Aiden, and Owen Carter. Jason accomplished much during his 12 year military career, which included two deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. He received the following decorations: Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/Campaign Star, Iraq Campaign Medal w/two campaign stars, Bronze Star Medal/Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), and National Defense Service Medal. Jason was especially proud of his military career and served our country honorably. After retiring from the military in 2014, Jason moved his family back to their hometown in Alton Missouri, where he looked forward to spending time with his family and pursuing his interests of fishing, canoing, and hunting. His oldest son, Clayton, remembers a canoing trip when they flipped the canoe trying to reel in a strong fish. He also describes his dad as "the best dad ever!" Jason Combs is survived by his wife, Sharolett Combs; three children, Clayton, Aiden, and Owen Combs; father, Robert Louis Combs; brother, Nathaniel Louis Combs; Grandmother, five uncles, Andy Combs, Tony Combs, Jubal Combs, Lewis Simpson, Darrel Simpson, and Grandpa, Nelson Simpson; mother, Donna Gail Martin; grandmother, Billie Martin; uncles, Robert Martin and Tim Martin; aunt, Cheryl Puckett; step-brother, Sean Foster; Jason also leaves behind his mother and father in law; Pamila and Wade Davis; sister in laws, Leslie Davis, Tiffany Brill, and Cindy Davis; nieces, Brooke Casey, Allie Spragg, Kelley Puckett, Brittany Martin, Leah Martin; nephews, Trevin Brill, Thomas Bettis, Samuel Martin. Plus, too many cousins to mention. Jason is preceded in death by his grandmother, Shirley Simpson; uncle, Dale Martin; and grandfather, Samuel Combs. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO. A full military service will at 1:00pm Friday, April 25, 2014 at Bailey Cemetery, Alton, MO
