Carl Ray Underwood, 93 passed away October 29, 2013 at West Vue Nursing Home, West Plains, MO.

Carl was born February 8, 1920 to Elgin R Underwood and Sylvia Taylor Underwood in Myrtle, MO.

He served in the 255th Infantry United States Army during World War II as a Technician 4G and received E.A.M.E. Campaign Medal, American Theatre Ribbon and Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After the war he returned to Myrtle.

He was a farmer and loved training coon dogs; he was an avid coon hunter, having received many awards.

He is survived by his nephew George Underwood and wife Deborah, Myrtle, MO nieces Phyllis Underwood, Ft. Pierce, FL, Anna Lou Underwood, Myrtle, MO Rita Brewer, Hardy, AR and Doris Sue Palmer and husband Chris, Kingfisher, OK and many great nieces and nephews. Carl had many friends and was loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Doris George Underwood, and one niece Dorothy Ledbetter. Carl was a member of the Myrtle Freewill Baptist church for many years.

Services will be 2pm Friday, November 1, 2013, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with Rev. Dale Skiles officiating, and burial in the Myrtle Cemetery. Visitation will be 6pm-8pm Thursday, October 31, 2013, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
