Waldo Marvin Williams, only son and youngest child of Marvin and Eva Combs Williams, was born September 15, 1934 in Oregon County, MO and departed this life September 3, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital, Cape Girardeau, MO at the age of 78 years.

He was married in 1981, in Evansville, IN to his best friend and the love of his life, Ruth. Waldo and Ruth moved back to Missouri in 1983, settling in Van Buren, near the Current River, where they have resided since.

Waldo is survived by his wife Ruth, one sister, Frances Sanders of Couch, MO, one niece, Diane Lawrence and husband Jim of Couch, MO, their extended family, Jeff and Sandy Lawrence of Couch, MO, Jake and Mindy Lawrence and Mya of Thayer, MO, Sara and Anthony Sorrell of Myrtle, MO and numerous other relatives and friends.

Waldo was retired from the Division of Family Services, after 26 years of service. Prior to his tenure in state employment, he owned his own garage and service station. He was known to repair a “few” tractors in the area. His recreational time was spent at the “cabin”, and sometimes a tent down by Spring Creek or floating, boating on the beautiful Eleven Point River. To his hunting buddies of 50 plus years on “the creek”. It was a blast! Thanks!

Waldo was a graduate of the 1952 class from Alton High School and did a tour of duty of two years in the U.S. Army, 18 months of which he served in Germany.

Services will be 11:00am Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton MO with burial in the Cotton Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jake Lawrence, Jim Lawrence, Jeff Lawrence, Charles Alford, Alan Sanders, Millard Barton, and honorary pallbearers will be Joe Whitten, Bud Orr, Richard Risner, Noel Bath, Clifford Cumins and Bob Chitwood.
