Lorene Clark, age 94 of Alton, Mo., was born September 7, 1918 to James Lloyd Millsap and Blanch (Holmes) Millsap in Oregon County, Missouri, and went home to Glory on May 16, 2013 at Shepherd’s View Residential Care Facility, Alton, Mo. She is survived by three children- Ann Dale and husband Bill, Rick Clark, Jim Clark and wife, Deb all of Alton, Mo. Five grandchildren- Tina Blankenship and husband Jerry, Dean Dale and wife Rose all of Alton, Mo., John Clark and wife Nicole of Bowling Green, Ky., Stephanie Clark of Alton, Mo., Chris Clark and wife Stefanie of Rover, Mo. Four Great Grandchildren- Lizzie Roberts and Emily Roberts of Alton, Mo. , Ryder Clark and Cooper Clark of Rover, Mo. One great great granddaughter- Hadley Jean of Alton, Mo. One brother-Billy Joe Millsap of Springfield, Mo. Several nieces and cousins. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, Step-Mother Lois (Chronister) Millsap, husband Everett (Joe) Clark, and one sister Betty Delcour and husband, Johnny. She lived most of her life in Oregon County, attending a rural school and working at her father’s store in the Hickory Grove Community. She met and dated the dashing Joe Clark and they married on November 23, 1940. Joe and Lorene worked very hard to raise their family, and she was so proud that all her children and grandchildren grew to be respectable, hard working citizens. In fact, her greatest joy was her family. She is well remembered as a cook at school, knowing the children’s favorite foods and spooning them a little ‘extra’. Lorene lost Joe in an automobile accident in 1975 and moved to town where she became a local hero of sorts, known for her diligent walking even into her ninth decade. She enjoyed daily coffee with her friends until they one by one moved on too. She so treasured sitting on her back stoop and admiring her flowers, along with all of God’s creation. She was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, always up on current events and glad to share her opinion of them. Lorene left her mark in this ole world, evident in her children, and she will be sadly missed, yet waiting at heaven’s gate for all those she loved. The family will be receiving visitors Monday evening, May 20, from 6:00 to 8:00PM, and funeral services will be Tuesday, May 21st, 11:00AM in the chapel of Clary’s Funeral Home-Alton, Mo. with Bro. Edward Casey and Bro. Jason Roberts officiating. Internment at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Alton, Missouri. Pall Bearers are: Dean Dale, John Clark, Chris Clark, Bob German, Kirby Johnson and Ray Ginder |
