Leon Janes, age 52 of Alton, MO, was born April 3, 1960 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and passed away May 22, 2012 at his home. Leon worked in the logging woods all his life, many of those years with his brothers, Jimmie Janes, Leland Janes and Larry Janes, and brother-in-law Perry Willard, and nephews, Jason Janes, Brandon Willard, and the late Jordan Willard. Even during Leon’s last months of illness, he would say “I sure wish I could cut down some trees.”

Leon is survived by one son, Kendell Ray Janes, Tulsa, Oklahoma, three brothers: Jimmie Janes and wife Debra, Leland Janes, and Larry Janes and wife Judy, all of Couch, MO, seven sisters: Judy Springer and husband Kurt, Kearney, MO, Marie Willard and husband Perry, Alton, MO; Barbara Adams and husband Chester, Salina, KS, Karen Brewer, Pocahontas, AR, Brenda Armstead and husband John, Thayer, MO, Darlene Dills, Springfield, MO, Becky Granger and husband Jerry, Alton, MO; three step-daughters: Melinda Dray and husband Lawrence, Smithville, MO, Stephanie Martin and husband Chris, Trimble, MO, and Laura Nelson and husband Adam, Smithville, MO; father-in-law and mother-in-law Don and Frances Argo of Harrisonville, MO; grandchildren: Sierra and Shelby Dray, Kurstin Martin, Lauren and Jacob Nelson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding him in death was his beloved wife Debbie Argo Janes, mother Lois Sisco Janes, father Howard Janes, nephew Jordan Willard, brother-in-law Douglas Brewer, and brother-in-law Allen Dills.

Services will be Friday, May 25, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Clary Chapel in Alton with Perry Willard and Gary Dotson officiating. Interment will be in the Arytown Cemetery. Family visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. (noon), one hour prior to the funeral service. Pallbearers are Brian Payne, Jason Janes, Brandon Willard, Shane Janes, Jesse Janes, and Austin Janes. Honorary pallbearers are Derek Armstead and Ethan Granger.
