Thelma Jane Bates, age 93 of Alton, MO was born July 7, 1918 near Briar, MO and passed away March 11, 2012 at Brooke Haven Healthcare, West Plains, MO. Survivors include; four children, Jim Bates of San Jose, CA, Connie Williams and husband Dennis of West Plains, MO, Sharon Stotler and husband Cliff of Rolla, MO Victor Bates of Alton, MO, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Phillip O’Dell and Mary Jane Johnson O’Dell, her husband, James Basil “J.B.” Bates, three brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren, Angie Cypret and Spencer Cypret. Thelma was a member of the Assembly of God Church for 78 years and was the last living charter member of the Alton Assembly of God Church. Services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO with Bro. Stage officiating. Interment will be in the Cave Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, noon until service time.
