William (Bill) C. Ritchie Sr., born on October 12, 1928, in Ellicott City, MD, passed away on August 18, 2011, in Kansas City, MO. Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret Clark and son, William C. Ritchie, Jr. (Carol), his step-son Mark Clark, grandchildren Christina and Daniel Ritchie, Joseph and Anna Clark, sisters Ella Mae Boone (Clyde), Mary Virginia Brothers and numerous nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Ella May Ritchie, brother Thomas Ritchie, first wife Betty Lou Clark Ritchie and his daughter Michelle Lynne Ritchie. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Bendix Corporation as a radar technician on Guam during NASA’s Gemini and Apollo missions and continued to work for Bendix during the early years of the space shuttle flights. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 1pm to 2pm followed by the funeral service at 2pm at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO. The family will also recieve friends from 10a-11am, with a memorial service at 11am, Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the Red Bridge United Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland, 8900 State Line Road, Ste. 320, Leawood, KS 66206.
