Betty Evelyn Johnson, age 86 of Alton, MO was born October 15, 1923 in Parma, MO and passed away February 20, 2010 at the Maples Health and Rehab Center, Springfield, MO.

Survivors include; two sons, Dale Johnson and wife Kay of Blue Springs, MO, David Johnson and wife Nancy of Springfield, MO, one daughter, Dana Johnson of Republic, MO, four grandchildren, Tina Gray, Bruce Johnson, Tracey Adair and husband Rick, and Tyler Johnson, nine great-grandchildren, Cody and Clay Gray, Shelby, Brock, Brody and Bryce Johnson, Cooper, Ellie and Greyson Adair, and one great-great-granddaughter, Kaedyn Gray, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Homer Clarence Terry and Lillie Paulina Page Terry, her husband, Nolan E. “Bill” Johnson, five brothers, Thurston, John, Grover, Ernest and Melvin Junior Terry, three sisters, Clophie Thompson, Myrtle Liley, Maggie Killingsworth and three infant siblings.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Bill Johnson on December 13, 1941 in Clarkton, MO. She retired as a Selective Service Clerk and also was employed at the Oregon County Health Department. She was a member of the Alton First Baptist Church, where she worked with children and youth in her earlier years. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, and will be especially remembered for her homemade doughnuts and hot rolls. She also spent many hours helping Bill with his woodworking. One of her favorite pastimes was playing the guitar and singing with her many music friends.

Services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO with Bro. Charles Trantham officiating, burial in Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
