Luie Newman Roberts, age 71 of Alton, MO, was born on October 19, 1937, in Alton, MO, and passed away January 10, 2009, in Springfield, MO.

He is survived by: his wife, Anna Marie; two sons, Thomas Newman Roberts and wife Kim of Crivitz, WI, and Herbert Mack Roberts and wife Dana of Alton; three grandchildren, Josh Roberts and wife Leslie of Alton, Minnie Roberts of Sarcoxie, MO, Casey Warren and husband Rodney of Alton; six step-grandchildren, Jeff, Shawn, Michelle, Brian, William and Michael Klassen; two great-granddaughters, Gracetyn and Alayna Warren of Alton; one brother, Lloyd “Tom” Roberts and wife Joyce of Alton; one sister, Mary Ann Lawrence and husband Melvin of New Castle, IN; one sister-in-law, Shirley Roberts; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were: his parents, Perry A. Roberts and Ella Casey Roberts; and four brothers, Willard, Phillip, Paul and Alex Roberts.

Luie grew up in the Riverton community and graduated from Alton High School. He was married to Anna Marie German on June 29, 1956, and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 30 years, before retiring on March 1, 2003. He then worked part time as a meat inspector for the State Of Missouri. Through his working experiences he made many life long friends. Luie was a Christian and regularly attended Victory Freewill Baptist Church in Alton. His retirement was spent farming and daily coffee shop fellowship. He loved hunting, fishing and his sidekick "Gus". The highlight of his year was opening day of Arkansas dove season and Missouri deer season. His two great-granddaughters blessed his life.

Services will be 11:00am Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO with Bro. Jason Roberts and Bro. Matthew Todd officiating. Burial will be in the Huddleston Cemetery.
