So sorry to hear about Ms. Gum. She was my favorite teacher and we had several great times. We laughed several times about me being her ambulance driver because I took her to get stitches in her finger when she smashed it. I am sorry for the family's loss. I'm sure she is dancing in heaven with Amos!

What a great lady and teacher. I'll cast my ballot in memory of her. I've never forgotten her quote, "If you don't vote, you can't gripe."

I had the privilege of knowing Deedee as part of my mothers family of friends. Marie Kilburn, Doris Johnson, Deedee and my mother, Bonnie frequently spent time together. I referred to them as "the old broads." We laughed, cried and talked politics together. Thank you Deedee for your wonderful spirit. You will be missed.

Mrs. Gum was a wonderful teacher and role model. I remember her saying "we study history so that we won't repeat our mistakes". My sincere sympathy to her family.

The family has our condolences. We so enjoyed DeeDee when she came to visit. She may have not been raised in Thomasville but when she married Amos, she became a "Thomsville" girl! She, Marie, Bonnie and Doris will always be special to the River's Edge. What beautiful ladies!

Deedee was always such a good friend to me, she warmly welcomed me as a new teacher at Alton and made me feel a part of everything. We sponsored student council together and survived sponsoring homecomings. I could never have asked for a better friend and colleague.

DeeDee was a great encourager. When my son dropped out of College. She told me of how she waited until her children were grown to go back, it gave me hope. She will be missed.
