Our Beloved Jerry Leonard Chewning went to his Heavenly Home Sunday, April 25, 2021, to be with our Lord and Savior. I am sure he is enjoying singing in that Heavenly Choir and rejoicing with his Mom – Carrie J. Stevenson; Dad-Leonard S. Chewning; His brothers-Lonnie R. Chewning; Michael D. Chewning and his daughter Cynthia Chewning along with numbers other loved ones. Jerry was born in Douglas, Georgia and raised in Tampa, Florida. He graduated at Mainland High School at Daytona Beach, Florida. He served in the Air Force stationed in Germany and was chosen “Teenage Idol of the Year†for his gorgeous voice. He was a hard worker and earned several management positions including Best Propane, Vitronic, Tropicana and owner of Ozark Saw and Mower in Ozark, Missouri. Jerry Loved wood working; Working on his old truck, fishing & singing. He directed Choirs and led worship in lots of churches and was a proud member of the Golden Road Quartet. He loved to cook using “Everything but the kitchen sink†to season food with. He was ornery and cantankerous; full of life and loved to make everyone laugh by talking Cajun style and could even dance a jig! He loved his family more than words could ever express. The more family and friends that were here, the happier he was. He was a hard worker and fought the good fight until his last breath. Even though he is no longer here with us, he is very much alive and will always be loved and remembered. Jerry is survived by his wife, Sarah Chewning; Children: Christopher Chewning; Melony Downes; Cassie Deckard; Lauren Marie McEntire; Jessica McBride; Jared Chewning and their precious families. A memorial service will be held 1PM Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO. "For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout and with the voice of the Archangel and with the Trumpet of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we shall be forever with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words." First Thessalonians 4 Until we meet again… |
